Manchester National Parks

Campervan and RV rental in Manchester puts you in close proximity to some of the best English national parks. The Peak District is one of these unique spots the U.K. has to offer, and it's just a short trip from Manchester in your campervan rental. Incredible scenery and great walks make it worth a visit.

Snowdonia National Park is also easily reached by campervan or RV rental. It has some breathtaking lakes and towering peaks, historic towns, and other activities like trekking and cycling. 

The Lake District is a short drive north of Manchester. While the area is full of history and culture, its most significant selling point is the stunning natural scenery. Fell walks in the area offer a chance to see dramatic landscapes, mountains, and lakes.

Finally, you could head east of Manchester to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The incredible landscape and heathered moorland are unmissable. It also contains some beautiful abbeys and museums perfect for rainy days.

Coastline, Lakes, and Rivers in Manchester

While the Greater Manchester region is landlocked, you're only a couple of hours' drive in a campervan or RV rental way from the seaside. Formby Beach in nearby Liverpool is well-maintained with lovely sands and dunes.

The Wirral has unique rust-colored dunes and many rock pools, making it a perfect spot for a paddle. It also offers views of Hilbre Island, which is a real treat.

There are some great lakes you can reach by campervan or RV too. Hollingworth Lake in Rochdale is artificial yet beautiful. Gaddings Dam is an excellent spot for swimming, while you can reach the stunning Lake District in about two hours in a campervan or RV rental.

While Manchester is famous for its canals, it has some excellent rivers. You can access them via a short trip in a campervan or RV rental. Sale Water Park has lots of activities for the family, and the Helly Hansen Watersports Centre is excellent for sailing. 

The River Mersey is hard to beat if you're looking for something more tranquil. It flows from Machester down to nearby Liverpool and out to the sea. It's perfect for walking and cycling trips away from the busy urban zones of either city.

The Burrs Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is an excellent spot for travelers visiting the Peak District. Located in Bury, it has superb facilities and lots to see and do nearby, including a historic local steam train.

Piethorne Valley Camping is another excellent family-friendly spot. Spotlessly clean, with great facilities, and run by amazing owners, it's a wonderful spot for a campervan stay.

If you plan on exploring Snowdonia National Park, Glanllyn Caravan & Camping Park is worth a stay. The site has excellent facilities and offers direct access to Lake Bala, making it a superb choice for families.

Finally, if you are heading towards the Yorkshire Dales, try the Bolton Abbey Estate Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. The warm and friendly owners will make you feel at home, while the Strid River and nearby woods give you plenty of nature to explore.
